Is your glaze not always consistent? Sometimes it turns out well, other times it doesn’t? Does your transparent glaze sometimes appear milky white? Expecting a deep blue, vibrant glaze, but it sometimes turns out green or even brown? Does your glaze sometimes drip onto the kiln shelf even though you’re certain the temperature was correct for the formula? Do you keep adding water to your glaze but it remains thick?
If this sounds familiar, then this course is a must for you! I will teach you everything you need to know about glaze thickness, viscosity, flocculation, and deflocculation so you can achieve perfect results with your glazes every time.
In addition to some theory in the morning, we will work with your own “problematic glazes” after lunch. Is your glaze stuck to the bottom of the bucket, unmanageable, or difficult to work with? We’ll work together to improve your glaze!
Glaze consistency, viscosity and specific gravity
The course is suitable for anyone who already has (some) practical experience with glazing. You should have glazed a piece of work before (using dipping or pouring glaze), even if you encountered problems. No theoretical knowledge of glazing is required to attend this workshop.
