ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Sofie, the woman behind SOGO keramiek. Born in 1985, happily married with two fantastic children.

My pottery journey began quite by chance in early 2016. On a whim, I signed up for a wheel-throwing course with Jan Welffens, a distant cousin of my mother.

It was during this course that I first encountered the tranquility (and sometimes the frustration) that clay can bring. By the end of that year, throwing on the wheel had become a mild obsession. It was no longer enough to attend a few classes a year, so I decided to set up my own wheel and glazing studio in our basement.

Since 2021, I have been working full-time as a ceramist. I love being at my wheel, primarily creating custom tableware for both private clients and B2B customers. My great passion is series throwing and glaze chemistry. In my workshops, I enjoy sharing my knowledge of clay and glaze with both beginners and advanced potters.
